Beyond Boundaries: Unifying Multiple Properties with Mural Installation and Fabrication
Stretching the artistic voice across three separate sites, we crafted a visual language that fulfilled Steelwave's PPA requisites while unifying The Lab as a project that spanned multiple properties. Exterior murals were installed in three locations throughout the East Bay, each one with a singular look and feel that fit within the overall style of the project. A custom railway was designed, fabricated, and installed at the Emeryville location–adding a tactile dimension to the scope of work. These public art pieces serve as a transition point for the city–engaging residents who are walking on the sidewalk or riding their bikes through an inspired thoroughfare.
Challenge
Creating a unified, but individually unique vision across multiple properties.
Goal
Our goal was to create spaces where the public could engage with the work and thus engage with The Lab as an institution in the community.
Result
Each property is a visual force in the areas where they reside. More so, the incorporation of fabricated railways and multi–walled murals create an immersive experience where members of the community can physically and directly engage with the work.
